Owners
Bill and Laura Woods both graduated from the Denver Academy of Court Reporting in 1982, and they were married in 1983. They are the proud parents of two grown sons, Jason and Michael. Bill and Laura have owned Avery Woods Reporting since October of 1992. Bill is still working as a reporter, as well as taking over the day-to-day management of the business, and Laura - thanks to our GREAT office staff - is only involved part-time. She spends her time as a homemaker and as Teaching Leader for a Bible Study Fellowship class in Northglenn.
Bill’s experience includes both working as a court official and freelance reporter. He has a great amount of experience in all litigation fields. His free time has mostly been spent coaching his sons’ baseball teams, but now that the youngest is off to college, they’ll enjoy traveling together to watch his college games.
Reporters
Laurel Tubbs
I have worked as a reporter since 1986, both in court and as a freelance reporter. I hold certificates in OK, KS and NC, as well as holding a Registered Professional Reporter certification through NCRA. I enjoy a wide range of legal experience, from criminal to medical malpractice. I also hold a BS in Health Information Management from Regis University where I graduated Cum Laude. My hobbies include reading, playing the piano and traveling. And being from Nebraska, I love Cornhusker football, but I've learned not to bring that up in conversation here in Colorado!
Susan Bretschneider
I have been reporting depositions, hearings, trials and other legal proceedings since 1971. I returned in January of 2006 from a 9-year stay in Vermont, where my career was broadened greatly. I did Environmental Court hearings, informational hearings relating to State contracts, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Public Service Board hearings, OSHA and Department of Labor hearings, work for the Vermont Health Care Administration, as well as general deposition work. My specialties are medical malpractice, legal malpractice and toxic tort litigation. I’m VERY glad to be back in Denver and at Avery Woods Reporting.
Beckie Collings
I am a native of New Hampshire, but have lived in Colorado since 1997. I am a graduate of Emerson College in Boston and the Denver Academy of Court Reporting. I have been with Avery Woods Reporting since 2002, and I especially like working on construction cases, but am developing, as all new reporters do, a wide range of experience. I enjoy hiking with my husband, sewing and decorating.
Diane C. Craddock
I am a Registered Professional Reporter and have worked both as an official and a freelance reporter since 1980. Over the years, I have produced transcripts of court room proceedings, arbitrations and depositions involving nearly every field of law practice, however, I feel my niche is reporting both expert and lay witnesses in insurance bad faith cases, construction law, environmental law, medical malpractice cases and oil and gas cases. I have been married since 1981 and have 2 sons. I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends.
Holly Faddis
I have been a court reporter at Avery Woods since 1983. I have
experience in nearly every subject matter of testimony, including medical
and construction. I hold a degree in Marketing and a minor in Business
Administration from Metropolitan State College. I am a Denver native,
married, with two sons. My hobbies include cooking and roller-blading.
Linda Frizzell
I am a native of Chicago, and I first began my court reporting career in Indiana. I have been with Avery Woods since 1983, and I am doubly certified, with both Registered Professional Reporter and Certified Shorthand Reporter certificates. I love to garage sale shop, and I keep telling my friends and family that one day, they'll read about me finding that unique VALUABLE treasure in a garage sale! I enjoy snowshoeing, hiking, yoga and spending time with my 2 sons and hubby!
Kelly Mair
I am a Registered Professional Reporter with the National Court Reporters Association. I began reporting in 1993 and have a variety of experience working in the courtroom as well as in depositions. I have also worked as an instructor at the Denver Academy of Court Reporting teaching court reporting students. Prior to moving to Denver, I worked for eight years in law enforcement. I’m happy to be in Colorado, and I enjoy working out, gardening and spending time with my husband and two sons.
Carmen Murphy
I graduated in 2000 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree in advanced technology studies, and I have an associates in applied sciences in court reporting. I began with Avery Woods Reporting shortly after graduating from college. While in college, I served as president of the school's Court Reporters Association. It is my sheer determination and natural motivation that first caused me to be interested in court reporting and help me to face the challenges of the industry, everything from learning the skill to the ever-changing technology. I am certified as a Registered Professional Reporter and a current member of both the National and Colorado Court Reporters Associations. My husband and I enjoy the natural beauty of Colorado, enjoying camping, hiking and four-wheeling in our Jeep Wrangler.
Patty Wrede
I first developed an interest in court reporting after working as a litigation paralegal for a 17th Street law firm and reading many depositions. I put myself through court reporting school while still working full-time, received my Registered Professional Reporter certification in 1982, and have never looked back since! I genuinely love my work and look forward every day to the opportunity to learn something new, to meet interesting people and to share a small slice of others' lives. I was one of the first reporters in our office to provide real time reporting to our clients when the technology first became available, and today real time reporting is a sizable portion of the work I do. My husband, Brad, and I have 2 children. Our son Josh is an ice hockey star, making All-State in 2006, and Kelley is on the cheer/dance squad at her high school, so the Wrede family's recreational time is usually spent at numerous sporting events.
Deborah Glennon
I'm a native of Colorado and am a fairly new reporter. I graduated from the Denver Academy of Court Reporting in 2005, and I moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming for two years to get my career started. I traveled all over Wyoming getting to see all the open space and beauty it has to offer. I did everything from depositions and Federal Court hearings to public meetings and water hearings. I believe I gained a great deal of experience in that two-year stint. I am so excited to be back in Denver. I just started with Avery Woods in January of 2008 and am loving every minute of it. I also am currently teaching night school at the Denver Academy of Court Reporting. I enjoy any new, exciting adventures.
Office Staff
Margaret Marquez - Scheduling/Billing Specialist
I began my career with Avery Woods in July of 1993. I do the majority of the scheduling and all of the billing. My background was with the University of Denver and the Public Defender's Office. I am married to a life-long Raiders fan, but Avery Woods doesn't hold that against me! I have 2 children who are both married. I like traveling - my favorite go-to city is New York! And I enjoy movies, music and reading anything by Lawrence Block. My most memorable experience has to be seeing the Beatles live at Red Rocks the summer of 1964!
Bonnie Nikolas - Production Specialist/Office Manager
I am a proud Colorado native who began working in the court reporting industry in 1979. I have been with Avery Woods Reporting since 1987, and I truly enjoy working with our reporters. "They're a great group of people!" I am married to Nik, and we have 2 teenage daughters who keep us very busy. My main "hobby" is being a soccer mom, but I also enjoy scrap booking, taking walks with my dog and spending time with family and friends. I am a big Broncos and Avalanche fan! I enjoy traveling with my family, and last summer we endured the wrath of Hurricane Emily in Playa del Carmen - an adventure to remember!
